Janet St. Clair: Teacher, Social Worker, County Commissioner

My journey in public service began over 40 years ago. Throughout my career, I've worn many hats—from teacher, foster parent, social worker, non-profit executive, and Island County Commissioner. Each role has reinforced my belief in people's strength and resilience when supported by common-sense policies and strong communities.

As a social worker, I helped children and families find stability and opportunity. I've managed large non-profit organizations and lead innovations that changed how services were delivered. Results, collaboration and deep listening have always been hallmarks of my career.

Since 2018, I've had the honor of serving as Island County Commissioner. In this role, I worked on regional issues, leading a North Puget Sound Counties' consortium that partnered together on transportation, infrastructure, behavioral health and emergency preparedness. I traveled to Olympia and Washington D.C. to bring common sense polices and significant resources back to our communities.

In these divisive times, it's easy to forget what unites us. But I've seen firsthand how our shared values of community and mutual respect can transcend differences when we work together.

As your Snohomish PUD Commissioner, I pledge to uphold these values, to work tirelessly for our communities- for affordability and keep our communities safe through reliable energy infrastructure and intentional planning for a resilient future. I will make sure our dollars are well spent, working to serve all of Snohomish County and Camano Island.

I would be honored to earn your vote and continue serving in this new capacity. Snohomish PUD has made significant investments in reliable infrastructure and green energy. We need to continue those efforts, as well as working to diversify our dependence on Bonneville Power Administration, regain local control for local priorities, and innovate and prepare for the future. Together, we can energize the future for the people who live, work and play here.
