My journey in public service began over 40 years ago. Throughout my career, I've worn many hats—from teacher, foster parent, social worker, non-profit executive, and Island County Commissioner. I've managed large non-profit organizations and lead innovations that changed how services were delivered. Results, collaboration and deep listening have always been hallmarks of my career.Since 2018, I've had the honor of serving as Island County Commissioner. In this role, I worked on regional issues, leading a North Puget Sound Counties' consortium that partnered together on transportation, infrastructure, behavioral health and emergency preparedness. Protecting our water resources to assure that we have access to clean and affordable water both now and into the future is critical. This includes a strong climate mitigation plan that addresses diminishing snowpack and river water, aquifer capacity and recharge, and addressing pollutants to keep our water pure. Additionally, this is critical as we face decision on data centers and industrial high water utilizers.

Planning for climate resiliency, flood mitigation and managing water pollutants are also key issues in policy and governance for our PUD.

Since 2018, I've had the honor of serving as Island County Commissioner. In this role, I worked collaboratively on local, regional and national issues, leading a North Puget Sound Counties' consortium that partnered together on transportation, infrastructure, behavioral health and emergency preparedness.
